Coronavirus: COVID-19

How to Protect Yourself

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, our center is currently closed and providing assistance by appointment only. Symptoms to watch out for include dry cough, shortness of breath, uncontrolled fever, random chills, and muscle pain. There is currently no vaccine for the Coronavirus. The best way to protect yourself is to prevent personal exposure to this virus. Everyone should practice social distancing by minimizing time outdoors if you are not an essential worker, wash hands frequently, avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth, and cover your nose and mouth with cloth face cover when around other people.  For up-to-date information, visit the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention Website by clicking the button below. If you become sick, seek help from your primary care physician and adhere to any orders, treatments, and recommendations given. Stay Well and Be Safe!

Pregnancy During COVID-19

It is not currently known if pregnant women have a greater risk of contracting Coronavirus, but they have the same risks as people who are not pregnant. We know that pregnant women experience many changes in their bodies that may increase the risk of certain infections. If you are pregnant, protect yourself the same way as if you were not pregnant. For mothers caring for a newborn, transmission of Coronavirus through breastmilk is unlikely. However, after birth a newborn is susceptible to person-to-person exposure to the virus. If you are sick and choose to direct breastfeed, wear a face cover and wash your hands before and after each feeding (CDC, 2020). If you choose to express your milk, express your milk often to maintain supply, designate a specific pump for use, and wash your hands before touching any pump or bottle parts before expressing milk. Visit the CDC website for more current details and up-to-date recommendations.
